Master Bathroom Remodel
The Goal: Function function function!
This is our master bathroom - easily *now* one of my favourite rooms in our house! If you take a look at the BEFORE, the pedestal sink offered no storage and the surround shower felt small and even smaller with the built-in bench seating. I couldn’t wait to add personality to this boring bathroom with the necessary storage it needed to function properly. The little extras added bring a smile to my face every time I walk into this room!
BEFORE AFTER
It’s all in the details! I wanted something fun and bold in this bathroom and when I saw the Good Vibes tile collection, I knew they were meant for this space. Not only are they daring, pretty, fun and colourful - exactly what this bathroom needed but they are so us! Always design for yourself - your home should be a reflection of you!
The picket fence tiles were an easy ‘YES’ for me - I love the way they make the room feel taller and they add texture with a polished artisan finish. By continuing the tile behind the vanity, it makes the space feel more unified.
I have always loved penny tile floors - it reminds me of the 1900s home I grew up in so I knew I wanted to use some variation of it in this bathroom. Adding a small black patterned border to the flooring outside the shower gave it just the right amount of vintage-style charm I was looking for, weaving in memories from my childhood.
This tiling job was a massive labour of love. It was hard and frankly sometimes defeating, BUT it was also incredibly rewarding to make a space so personal and gave me a huge appreciation for what people do day in and day out in the tiling world! (bravo)
Every inspiration picture I saw, I kept coming back to simple wood vanities with a minimal details and a mid-century modern flair. I chose THIS vanity for it’s simplistic look and pretty wood tone that brings warmth to this space paired with these pulls. Going with an all white quartz top keeps the look calm against the MANY fun tile choices!
From the moment I started dreaming up this bathroom, I envisioned a wall mounted faucet. Taking this bathroom down to it’s studs allowed us to change the plumbing to do just that. The champagne bronze faucet from Delta gives the warmth and depth I was after, pairing well with the matte black accents throughout the space.
Wanting to make the most of the storage this vanity offers I used a variety of containers from IKEA to organize it all - I love opening the drawers and seeing everything in it’s place!
Bamboo trays - set of 3
Acrylic organizers - set of 5
Blue baskets - set of 2
I *LOVE paying attention to the small details - every corner should be pretty & all spaces in your home deserve love! From the way you style your shower nook to the waste baskets collecting your garbage, they can have a purpose and still look nice! Plants are always a must for me - they give life to a room and paired with a pretty planter is sometimes the only decor a space needs. And remember, they don’t need to be expensive or even traditional planters (you could use baskets, mugs, bowls, you name it!) - all of these planters were either from HomeSense or the Dollar Store (yep you read that right!). One thing that has really given this bathroom a ‘spa feel’ is adding a diffuser. In the past, I didn't keep one in my bathroom because I thought ‘what is the point when I spend such little time in this room?’ …fast forward to a ‘finished bathroom’ later & I fill it up every morning with citrus and eucalyptus smells and it keeps this room smelling fresh all day long!
The colours of THIS printed Loloi/Amber Lewis rug bring the whole space together. The beauty of a printed low pile rug is you can add them to any room - they are easy to clean and have a depth of colour that they compliment any space!
I hope this inspires you to see that no space is too small to have lots of personality and style and still function the way it is supposed to!
